Bursaries, Scholarships & Awards


Applying for scholarships and bursaries can take time and effort but it can really pay off! There are many sources of scholarships and bursaries. Students are asked to create an account on one or both of the following websites to do a scholarship/bursary search.

Students should also visit the college and university websites. All colleges and universities offer their own scholarships and bursaries.  See below for a list of current awards, bursaries and scholarships.

Our community is also very generous in awarding scholarships and bursaries.

Ontario Provincial Police Youth Foundation Bursary
The Ontario Provincial Police Youth Foundation will be awarding two bursaries, each valued at $1,000, to graduating students who have financial need or academic ability need.  If you have participated in an OPP Summer Camp Program or Firefighter Cadet Program you may also apply - although this is optional.  You must be seeking full time admission to a university, college or apprenticeship program in Canada.  

Deadline is: May 14th, 2021

Special Announcement of the Nominees
for the 
Lion’s Club R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Award 2020-2021


The Lions Club’s prestigious R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Awards is presented annually to 2 deserving graduating students from ADHS who exemplify the character and values of R. Tait McKenzie himself, including excellence in the areas of community involvement, academics, and athletics.  The following students have been nominated to apply for the Award on behalf of the 2020-2021 graduating class:

Congratulations to all of our nominees!  The deadline for completing your application package is Wednesday, April 21st at midnight. The R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Awards Committee will announce the Award Finalists on April 30th

R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Awards
The R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Award will be presented to two deserving graduating students in May.  Each scholarship has a cash value of $2,000.  Finalists for the award will also receive a bursary of at least $100 each.

Grade 12 students are asked to nominate potential graduates whom they feel excel in the areas of community involvement, academics, and athletics.  These nominees should exemplify the qualities of Robert Tait McKenzie, Canadian physician, educator, sculptor, athlete, soldier and scouter.  

Please go to Student Services for nomination forms and instructions on how to nominate a student.  Forms must be returned to Student Services by Thursday, March 25th at 3:00 pm.  Nominees will be called to Student Services and asked if they would like to pursue the application process.  The first stage of the process involves providing a letter of intent, an accomplishment chart, and consent form.  The second stage requires students to provide a reference letter from staff or the community.  Nomination submission packages are due by Wednesday, April 21st at 3:00 pm.  Announcement of finalists will be made on April 30th. 

Any grade 12 students who are interested in nominating a peer or have questions about the award, should see Ms. Brown or Ms. E. Sheffield.  

The R. Tait McKenzie Award announcement of winners will take place early June 2021.  


Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary Fund
This is open to students who have demonstrated an interest in and appreciate of the natural environment and who have experience in this field.  Applicants may be planning to attend a college, university, or technical institution post-secondary.  Applicants should also be able to explain how their post-secondary studies relate to and will contribute to the preservation and improvement of the natural world.  Applications are available online at https:/  The deadline for submission is May 1st, 2021

The Public Property Assessment Network Scholarship Easter Region 
This scholarship is presented on behalf of the Ontario Public School Boards' Association to students entering the skilled trades either through post-secondary programs or through an apprenticeship program in Ontario.  Preference is given to students in good standing, who have contributed to the life of the school and community, and who demonstrate financial need.  The deadline to apply is May 28th, 2021.  To pick up a copy of the application, please come to Student Services.

R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Awards
he format and timeline for the R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Awards will be released shortly by Student Services.  This award is sponsored by the Almonte Lions Club and celebrates student excellence in academics, athletics, and community involvement.  Students who are interested in nominating their peers or in participating themselves, should pay attention to the in-school announcements and emails from Student Services.
