Bursaries, Scholarships & Awards

Applying for scholarships and bursaries can take time and effort but it can really pay off! There are many sources of scholarships and bursaries. Students are asked to create an account on one or both of the following websites to do a scholarship/bursary search.

Students should also visit the college and university websites. All colleges and universities offer their own scholarships and bursaries.

K. Bruce Andrews Scholar Award
Once again, we will be offering the K. Bruce Andrews Scholar Award at Commencement this year.  This very generous award, in the amount of $10,000, is donated by the family of the late Mr. Andrews, to a deserving graduate student.  This year, the students will be recognized for their participation in not only athletics, but participation in school clubs, the Link Crew, and community involvement.  Deadline is May 21st.  For more details and to apply for this scholarship, please go to our website and download the application or go to Student Services for more information.

D.J. GREEN MEMORIAL & VIOLET GREEN BURSARY
Applications are now available in Student Services for the Royal Canadian Legion Violet Green Bursary and the D.J. Green Memorial Bursary. All students may apply but preference will be given to students who have, or have had, a member of their family as a legion member.  Deadline is June 7th.

OJEN Bursaries

Are you pursuing post-secondary studies leading to a career in the justice sector?  Bursaries in the range of $500-1000 are available to students.  For more details, please go to Student Services.  Deadline is May 27th. 

Big Brothers/Big Sisters Bursary

This $500 bursary is in memory of Randy Marriner.  This memorial bursary will be awarded to one or two students who have been former Littles or Mentee's in our programming.  Students must have been served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County through one of our mentorship programs.  Students must have applied and received acceptance of an offer from a post-secondary institution for the fall of 2019.  Please list which program you have been accepted into and how having a mentor has affected you.  Deadline is May 1st.  - CLOSED


Ottawa Senators Foundation Scholarship Program - Algonquin College
The Ottawa Senators Foundation is providing a $1,000 scholarship to a UCDSB student beginning their studies at Algonquin College in fall 2019.  Visit Student Services for application details and deadline information.

R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Award
Nominations for the Lions Club's prestigious R. Tait McKenzie Scholarship Award are now open.  The award will be presented to two deserving graduating students in May.  Nomination forms are available in Student Services.  Forms must be returned to Student Services by Wednesday, April 3rd at noon.  - CLOSED

Canadian Federation of University Women, Perth District
The Canadian Federation of University Women, Perth District, offers an opportunity for females to apply for financial assistance towards their post-secondary education.  Priority will be given to women demonstrating financial need.  Applications will be accepted until April 30th.  - CLOSED

Sean Jackson Scholarship
Are you an Ontario High School student making a positive impact within your community through innovation and initiative?  If so, apply for the Meridian's Commitment to Communities "Sean Jackson Scholarship".  You could be awarded $10,000 to help reach your educational goals! Deadline is April 30th. - CLOSED

Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary
The deadline for the Cliff Bennett Nature Bursary is fast approaching.  One more awards of $1,000 will be granted to a graduating student who wishes to pursue post-secondary studies related to the natural environment, which may lead to a career in a related field. Deadline: May 1st.  - CLOSED

Lanark County Plowmen's Association
The Lanark County Plowmen's Association will provide two bursaries of $250 each to students enrolled in the first year of an agricultural program at a college or university next year.  Deadline is May 14th. 

Heritage Fitness Scholarship Program
Heritage Fitness is offering a $1,000 scholarship to grade 12 students continuing their studies at college, university or trade school in September.  Deadline is May 15th.  For more information visit http://heritagefitness.ca/scholarship-program/ or go to Student Services.


Naismith Basketball Association

The Naismith Basketball Association is offering one student in the Almonte/Carleton Place area a one-time award of $1,000 to go towards their fist year of post-secondary education.  This award will be given to the graduating student who best represents the values that Dr. James Naismith brought to the game over 125 years ago.  Deadline is May 17th. 


Colby McGeachy Professional Corporation Bursary
This award is for a graduating student pursuing a bachelor of commerce, accounting science, economics, finance or business degree.  For more information on criteria and instructions to apply, please visit https://www.colbymcgeachy.com/student-bursary or go to Student Services.  Deadline is May 31st.

ORBA (ONTARIO ROAD BUILDERS ASSOCIATION)
ORBA is now offering scholarships to potential graduates for Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Technology.  Applications will be accepted for the Joe Bunting Scholarship and J.D. Chick Scholarship - deadline October 31st; ORBA Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship and ORBA Civil Engineering Scholarship.  Deadline is May 31st.

Trillium Automobile Dealers Association Automotive Graduation Award
This $500 award is for a graduating student accepted into an Automotive Service, Motive Power or Auto Technology program.  For more information on criteria and instructions to apply, please go to Student Services.  Deadline is June 14th.
