UNIVERSITY INFORMATION PRESENTATION
SEPTEMBER 2024
University Visits to ADHS
Many Ontario university reps are booking visits for students at ADHS. A full schedule of the visits is posted outside of Student Services and will be included in monthly newsletters. It will also be available on our website shortly. Grads can sign up for these visits on sign-up sheets outside of Student Services. You must sign up for the presentations you wish to attend. If there is a school you would like to see but which is not scheduled for a visit, please let Ms. Brown know and we will reach out to that school.
Ontario University Fairs (OUFs)
All Ontario Universities travel together for regional fairs so that students and parents can meet with the recruitment representatives to discuss programs, fees, student life, residence and meal plan options, etc. This year, there will be several regional “Fairs” held in the Ottawa area including events at Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute (Tuesday, Sept. 24th 12:00pm-2:00pm), the Nepean Sportsplex and Kanata’s Bell Sensplex September 23-24th. The exact dates and times are available through the website link below. It is a great opportunity for you and your family to connect with all of the universities and gather information or asks so if you feel this will be helpful, please make a plan to attend.

Campus Tours, Open Houses, and Webinars
Students are encouraged to attend open houses and go on campus tours in the Fall as they begin researching their university options. These events are excellent opportunities for students to tour the facilities, meet the faculty, learn more about the program offerings and get a sense of both the school community and the broader community. It is the best way to see if a university is a good fit for you. Some Open Houses require registration in advance or offer faculty specific Open House events. Please make sure you check the websites of the schools which interest you to confirm dates, times, registration, and presentation details. Spring Open Houses are also traditionally offered around March Break so if you want to visit schools after you have completed your applications to help you make final decisions, you can also participate in the Spring Sessions. It is up to students to check the university websites to find out about these events.
Many schools also offer webinars about a variety of things: programs, the application process, financial assistance, student supports, etc. Again, please check the individual university websites for webinar offerings and schedules. They may also require pre-registration.
Some local college and university open houses include:
· University of Ottawa – October 26 https://www.uottawa.ca/study/campus-tours-admissions-events/canada-admissions-events/open-house
· Carleton University – October 26 - registration to open soon · https://admissions.carleton.ca/openhouse/
· Queen’s University - Fall Open House currently not advertised on website yet, Campus Tours can be booked at: hthttps://www.queensu.ca/admission/campus-tours
THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR ONTARIO UNIVERSITIES

Some schools and programs require supplemental fees for additional assessments like supplemental application requirement assessments, portfolio review or audition assessment, etc. You can review these fees at: Undergraduate – Fees | Ontario Universities' Application Centre (ouac.on.ca) .
ü Grades and demographic information are automatically uploaded from our school to the OUAC platform at regular intervals throughout the year, especially around reporting periods.

ü Should you apply to OUAC and one of the following universities: Bishop’s, Acadia, Concordia, McGill, British Columbia, Victoria, Dalhousie, Simon Fraser or Saint Mary’s, OUAC will electronically transfer your academic records once you have completed the application provided by the university.
