UNIVERSITY INFORMATION and PRESENTATIONS 2022 - 2023

UNIVERSITY VISITS TO ADHS:
Many Ontario university reps are booking visits for students at ADHS. A full schedule of the visits is posted outside of Student Services and will be included in monthly newsletters. It will also be available on our website shortly. Grads can sign up for these visits on sign-up sheets outside of Student Services. You must sign up for the presentations you wish to attend. If there is a school you would like to see but which is not scheduled for a visit, please let Ms. Brown know and we will reach out to that school. Ontario University Fairs (OUFs) All Ontario Universities usually travel together for regional fairs so that students and parents can meet with the recruitment representatives to discuss programs, fees, student life, residence and meal plan options, etc. This year, there will be several regional “Fairs” held in the Ottawa area between October 17-20. Please visit the following website to see the exact dates, times, and locations and make a plan to attend if you feel it will be helpful. ontariouniversitiesfair.ca

CAMPUS TOURS, OPEN HOUSES, & WEBINARS:
Students are encouraged to attend open houses and go on campus tours in the Fall as they begin researching their university options. These events are excellent opportunities for students to tour the facilities, meet the faculty, learn more about the program offerings and get a sense of both the school community and the broader community to see if a university is a good fit for them. Some Open Houses require registration in advance or offer faculty specific Open House events. Please make sure you check the websites of the schools which interest you to confirm dates, times, registration, and presentation details. Spring Open Houses are also traditionally offered around March Break so if you want to visit schools after you have completed your applications to help you make final decisions, you can also participate in the Spring Sessions. It is up to students to check the university websites to find out about these events. Many schools also offer webinars about a variety of things: programs, the application process, financial assistance, student supports, etc. Again, please check the individual university websites for webinar offerings and schedules. They may also require pre-registration.
Some local college and university open houses include:
• University of Ottawa – October 22nd - registration to open soon .uottawa.ca
• Carleton University - October 22nd - registration to open soon admissions.carleton.ca/openhouse/
• Queen’s University - Fall Open House currently not advertised on website, Campus Tours can be booked at: queensu.ca/admission/campus-tours

THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR UNIVERSITIES:
All university applications will be submitted online at the end of November/beginning of December. You will receive your Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) Personal Identification Number (PIN) to apply from Student Services in late October. To be considered for Ontario university admissions you must have a minimum of six grade 12 U or M courses. Also you must complete your 40 community hours by June 1st .
When you go online in November and December, you will be asked to;
✓ Verify personal data which has already been sent
✓ Complete some additional information
✓ Make program choices which include specific campus locations
✓ Pay a $150* application fee (by Visa, MasterCard, electronic banking etc…) for 3 program choices. Please note there is a $50.00* cost for each additional program choice beyond your initial three.

Some schools and programs require supplemental fees for additional assessments like supplemental application requirement assessments, portfolio review or audition assessment, etc.
You can review these fees at: www.ouac.on.ca/guide/101-fees/ .
✓ Student Services will submit marks and demographic information and will guide you through the application process.
✓ You will have the opportunity to verify your marks each time they are submitted by the high school (November/February/April/July). Check that all coop, e-Learning and summer school marks have been transmitted correctly. Please report any discrepancies to Student Services ASAP.
✓ If you are applying out-of-province you must apply online on each individual university’s website. A separate cost will apply.
✓ Should you apply to OUAC and one of the following universities: St Mary’s, Bishop’s, Acadia, Concordia, McGill, Calgary, British Columbia, Victoria, Dalhousie, Simon Fraser or New Brunswick, OUAC will electronically transfer your academic records once you have completed the application provided by the university. (I still need to verify some of these schools so if interested in applying to them, please see me to confirm that this information is accurate.)
✓ If you are not applying to the OUAC and/or not applying to a school listed above you must notify Student Services of the name of the university you have applied to and of your student number so your marks can be sent manually.
